Abstract:

Campuses, large and small, are facing similar pressures to offer secure, online services tailored to specific traditional and nontraditional audiences. Given the complexity of managing the access, security, and privacy of information for all these applications and the varied audiences who use them, how can we afford the time and money to deploy them? This session will discuss why institutions should begin a middleware implementation, if they haven't already, how this infrastructure contributes to the bottom line, and what help is available through the NSF Middleware Initiative.
