Emergency Notification SystemsIntroductionIn the aftermath of the tragedy at Virginia Tech, and two years after the devastation of Katrina, many of our members are faced with establishing or improving their campus emergency notification systems. The Net@EDU Converged Communications Working Group would like to invite you to submit the solutions you have chosen, or are considering, for your campus. We have also created an area for product reviews. To submit a Wiki entry, log into this site using your EDUCAUSE password, click on the edit tab above, create a title under the desired subheading, enclose it in double brackets, and click submit. That will take you to a newly created page where you can enter your information. There are two other options as well. You can submit your information as a document to be accessed through the EDUCAUSE library or as a blog entry. Links to all entries will be visible on this site. For information on how to submit a library or a blog entry please scroll down to "Emergency Notifications Systems Library" or for blog entries, to "Success Stories, Funding Models, etc." Thank you for participating. If you have any questions about this page please contact wwigen@educause.edu. Wiki ProfilesListed below are some key areas that are particularly suited for profiling in this wiki. Please log on and contribute today! Technological SolutionsThere are many different technologies (voice, video, SMS, siren, etc.) that can aid in emergency notification. Please share what specfic technologies you have in place here. Product InformationThere are obviously many more products than there are technologies. We welcome reviews by those of you with vended solutions, whether a pilot/trial or in production, here. Policies and ProceduresPlease share your institution's policies and procedures surrounding emergency notification (what constitutes an "emergency," who's authorized to make that determination and/or distribute the message(s), what message templates you have, and so on) here. We also recognize that a wiki might not be particularly suited for storing this data. Please consider emailing contribute@educause.edu to get your item listed in our library. Sample of Campus Alert Notification WebsitesPlease share your institution's alert notification website where more information is available concerning your campus solution to emergency alert notification. Please consider emailing contribute@educause.edu to get your item listed in our library. Many of the sites listed below have also developed FAQ's that other institutions may find useful in the development of their emergency notification system.
