Our design guidelines are similar, but we also design for redundancy for academic locations On 7/6/22 11:56 AM, Mandy Moncayo via EDUCAUSE Connect wrote: We do our own wireless design work and pass on the plans to whomever is doing the purchasing or construction. It seems they've told everyone they're more available, so many changed their orders to 6XX and now they have lead times similar to everything else.. Depending on your budget, support structure, and tolerance of risk, etc. my suggestion would be to look at a separate controller for supporting new hardware. The Hierarchical configuration structure makes it fairly simple, and you can size it smaller than usual as it would only be supporting new ...

I liken the AP-635 as an AP-505 (2x2) with 6GHz radios.. So depending on what channel widths you use, the 2x2 may limit those or simultaneous connections. The physical size is larger than the AP-515 but smaller than the AP-535. AP-635 does require minimum AOS of 8.9 and the (soon?) AP-655s will require ...

It could help if you have eduroam configured to also allow AnyRoam clients. https://www.anyroam.net/ They do need prior network connectivity to access the site and download the certificate, but it saves from dealing with guest licenses for known long-term visitors. On 2/10/22 9:29 AM, Kanan ...

What are the goals, to have clients (Students/Faculty/Staff) be able to test to 10G to verify bottlenecks ? We have a backup Comcast 10G link and Speedtest can select that comcast router, so for us, it's easy enough to point clients at for self-testing. (Yes, I did read your "other than speedtest" ...

After all the dust has settled from the Aruba campus problems this Semester, it seems we're still chasing a few odd behaviors and I wanted to poke the collective brain trust. Speaking of passthrough ports, have any other Aruba customers been dismayed that they decided to remove the passthrough ports on the 500h series ? Might be worthwhile letting your Aruba rep know this could be impactful and maybe they'll take it into consideration for the 600h(?) series .. ...

CAT is an on-boarding tool that's supported by the community. We had to move from it's free offering to the commercial SecureW2 for support reasons. (although I understand CAT has gotten much better) So if you want a free way to onboard your clients to eduroam with trusted cert chains and startup ...

Anyone hear of issues/changes with Android 12 on their networks? We run EAP-TLS and onboard eduroam with SecureW2.?? We just updated SecureW2 for Win11 and Mac12 and I haven't really heard of a new Android release.?? We've had 2 tickets come in from clients that have updated and are unable to connect.?? ...

We found that when running dual local SSIDs, most people assumed they had eduroam setup correctly locally and would connect to it and run happily while on campus, only to go to remote sites and be unable to connect. In most every instance their systems were not correctly onboarded to eduroam and would ...

Much misinformation here, and also one of the reasons we force eduroam to be used locally and correctly. Proper certificates and trust chains installed locally allows no data privacy concerns at legitimate or rogue off-campus eduroam sites. On 10/13/21 7:57 PM, Jeffrey Sessler via EDUCAUSE Connect ...

There should be no reason for building hallway mounted APs in res-halls in the past 5 years. Plan on in room hospitality style APs with minimum RF to cover that room only. On 9/30/21 11:02 AM, Nate Ho via EDUCAUSE Connect wrote: Hello All, My team and I have been challenged with providing ...
