1st Annual EDUCAUSE PKI Deployment Forum: Registration Open

A Focus on Campus PKI-Based Services

The 1st Annual EDUCAUSE PKI Deployment Forum, April 16–17 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, will bring together colleges and universities that have decided to deploy PKI-based services on their campuses. The presentations will focus on the details needed to make PKI deployments successful, covering both technical and policy issues and including related areas such as training, vendor selection, CA options, buy-versus-build decisions, key distribution, and audit. Each year, the PKI Deployment Forum will take place on a different campus where deployment is under way, allowing participants to learn firsthand about what has worked and what hasn't. Registration is now open.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month Resources Available

A variety of resources are available from the EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force, including a NCSAM resource kit and winning entries for the 2007 Computer Security Awareness Video Contest, which can be used for planning activities on campus to increase cyber security awareness among your students, faculty, and staff.

Lancope Joins EDUCAUSE Identity Management Services Program

Since its launch in 2005, the EDUCAUSE Identity Management Services Program (IMSP) has formed discount partnerships with a variety of providers of ID management products and services, structured exclusively for EDUCAUSE member institutions. With the recent addition of Lancope, six firms now offer significant discounts to member institutions.

An expanding number of vendors provide products and services that cover various parts of the identity management solution; however, many campuses have found the price of commercial offerings can be a significant impediment.
