Abstract:The current demands for leadership of information resources require that the information resource professional be a generalist, a boundary spanner, a partner in the broad institutional scheme, as well as possess skills from previous phases of the metamorphosis of IT. This article discusses the changing role of the information resource professional, and the importance of a change in mindset with regard to information technology in the mission of higher education.
