Abstract:The University of British Columbia is working with other institutions to develop a community source, next-generation student system that will use a service-oriented architecture. We will describe our approach to community source projects; a standards-based, service-oriented architecture; and the goals and design concepts for a new, open-source, student services system.

They wrestled with various technical, functional, and organizational issues that could be loosely described as "kindergarten activities"!
