Design on a Dime: Classroom Security for 500 Bucks

Soon after a project to install instructional technology in 49 classrooms was completed, the theft of an expensive projector made it glaringly obvious that the rooms now needed security systems to protect them. With a budget of only $500 per room, a security system was developed for the newly upgraded classrooms.

Putting the Pedagogy First: The Classroom 2008 Project

The Classroom 2008 project is exploring how technology can be infused into the pedagogical practices of faculty as opposed to having faculty adapt to new technologies as they appear in teaching spaces. Examples from our new 265,000-square-foot University Hall with more than 60 mediated teaching spaces will be used as illustrations.

Electronic Classrooms and Buildings of the Future

How many universities and colleges have adequate high technology classrooms and student learning spaces to meet current demands ? With the exponential growth in the use of the Internet and multimedia to support enhanced instructional delivery, student learning, and research; there never seems to be enough high technology facilities available to meet the needs of faculty and students. A critical issue facing our campuses is planning, developing, and supporting new high technology facilities to meet critical demand for teaching innovation, research, and student learning. This session will examine and discuss current issues, problems, and trends related to developing and supporting new high technology classrooms, labs and student learning spaces.
