 <title>Evaluating a Virtual Academic Department</title>

 <description>Sunoikisis, a virtual classics department formed by classicists at 13 liberal arts colleges, blends on-campus teaching with distributed, online, interinstitutional instruction. This evaluation studies Sunoikisis by examining the gains and challenges to institutions and asks how institutions can sustain liberal arts education values while increasing reliance on technology in the classroom.</description>

 <title>Beyond the Foothills: Passion and Personality in the Virtual Classroom</title>

 <title>Tips and Tricks for Online Courses</title>

 <description>Innovative ways to develop, manage and deliver online courses is the focus of this panel. Simple design tips, strategies and best practices in instructional design will be presented. Course management issues such as on-line testing and grading and student support will be addressed. Support issues for faculty including training, technical assistance, and funding alternatives will also be presented. In addition, panel members will describe innovative uses of emerging technologies in online course delivery, including streaming video as well as other methods to synchronize audio, video and text.</description>
