Where Do Students Use Computers?

Where do students use computers? Many institutions believe students don't need computing facilities because many own laptops. Some campuses create distributed environments with two computers and a printer per residence hall; others build massive computing labs with hundreds of workstations. CMC has explored an alternative solution to student computing.

Design on a Dime: Classroom Security for 500 Bucks

Soon after a project to install instructional technology in 49 classrooms was completed, the theft of an expensive projector made it glaringly obvious that the rooms now needed security systems to protect them. With a budget of only $500 per room, a security system was developed for the newly upgraded classrooms.

The Changing Place of Space

Changes in technology are stimulating IT and facilities professionals to rediscover spaces that previously received little attention. This presentation will discuss Emory's experiences with learning space design, including the award-winning Cox Computing Center. We will present the methods we used to apply lessons learned to projects small and large and relate the challenges and opportunities in bringing the IT and facilities worlds together.

An Enterprise-Grade Model for Classroom Technology Support

Classroom technology has not traditionally benefited from enterprise computing. With the integration of classroom control systems and network interfaces, the door has been opened for centralized management of classroom equipment and operations. Learn how 300 classrooms are monitored 24 x 7 for system errors, lamp problems, power failures, network crashes, and projector thefts.
