Abstract:

In January 2007, 13 geographically separated liberal arts colleges joined with the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE) and the Longsight Group on an initiative for shared, managed, institutional repository services. The resulting collaboration promises to dramatically lower the barrier for entry into an emerging technology for smaller colleges.

Abstract:

This presentation will demonstrate discipline-specific case studies to enhance faculty development in universal design for learning. We will highlight California State University's EnACT project, which supports learning for 10,000 CSU students with disabilities, and MERLOT ELIXR, a faculty development collaboration across state systems and campuses for developing cases and shared teaching resources.

Abstract:When the Vermont State Colleges decided to replace a 20-year-old legacy information system, the "loose confederation" of five colleges needed to become a highly collaborative organization to exploit the functionality of an enterprise information system. This session will describe how learners shared resources to answer questions about math and science course content. Abstract:Sunoikisis, a virtual classics department formed by classicists at 13 liberal arts colleges, blends on-campus teaching with distributed, online, interinstitutional instruction. This evaluation studies Sunoikisis by examining the gains and challenges to institutions and asks how institutions can sustain liberal arts education values while increasing reliance on technology in the classroom.
