Abstract:

The federal government promotes identity management, both within the government and between the government and other organizations. For example, standardized smart cards are being deployed throughout the federal government and distributed to certain contractors and grant recipients. NSF, NIH, and the Department of Education have expressed interest in pilot projects aimed at interfederating with higher education groups. These and related initiatives will be discussed by representatives of the participating agencies.

Abstract:Standardization of e-learning content requires us to look at interoperability, reuse, automated updating, and personalization issues. The object-oriented features of SCORM from the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative and MPEG-4 from ISO/MPEG illustrate the benefits of standardization. Understand how the standards-compliant composition and delivery of object-oriented content enhances the value of e-learning and the diversity of audiences reached.

This presentation will describe how UNC Wilmington successfully adopted institutional IT standards through a collaborative process focusing on the benefits of such standards to university constituencies.
