<title>Letter to University of Wisconsin-River Falls re: Student Account Identifiers</title>
 <link>http://connect.educause.edu/display/35933</link>
<description>A letter outlining the FERPA rule on electronic IDs. The letter states that there is nothing wrong with schools releasing electronic IDs as long as (a) they&#039;re not derived from SSNs, and (b) they can&#039;t be used without additional authentication (such as a password) to acquire personal information about the student.</description>
