The call for proposals is now open for the 2009 Midwest Regional Conference, "Intersections: Emerging, Commonly Accepted, and Best Practices in Higher Education IT,” March 23–25 in Chicago.

The deadline for submissions is October 6.

The program for this leading event in higher education IT will follow these tracks:

EDUCAUSE convened “The Role of Information Technology in Campus Security and Emergency Management,” an invitation-only summit August 17–18 for IT professionals, facilities managers, law enforcement, and other campus leaders to explore how communications and information technologies can be leveraged to address campus security and emergency preparedness.

A principal goal of the summit was to collect a growing body of knowledge on effective, integrated security and emergency management environments for campuses and the community and to encourage collaboration for future projects and innovations in this area.

The results of the EDUCAUSE summit will be showcased this fall at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference in Orlando and will be shared through other association events and future publications. The call for proposals is now open for the 2009 Southwest Regional Conference, "Balancing Acts: Making IT Work for Everyone,” February 24–26 in San Antonio. Note: This year, the conference begins on a Tuesday and ends on a Thursday.

The deadline for submissions is September 9.

EDUCAUSE 2008, "Interaction, Ideas, Inspiration," will bring together several thousand people from across the higher education IT landscape October 28–31 in Orlando.

In coordination with the Virtual Worlds Hot Topic Discussion at lsat years EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, a group was starting in Second Life.  That group had its first meeting on Monday, June 9th.  Following is the edited transcript of that meeting (edited for clarity and readability).

The call for proposals is now open for the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, "The Technology Revolution in Higher Education: IT as a Catalyst for Change,” January 7–9 in Philadelphia. The deadline for submissions is July 23.

The program for this leading event in higher education IT will follow these tracks:
