CMC\'s FITness program allowed faculty to rapidly integrate teaching with technology and help struggling students catch up. Grants from the Mellon Foundation and the Fletcher Jones Foundation funded specialized programs to help students meet faculty expectations of their technical knowledge, skill, and application.

Student Technological Mastery: It's Not Just the Hardware

We examined factors which increase the likelihood that students will use technology effectively. Research with a college population assessed the technological skills of students. Results suggest that learning orientation and perception of use of technology in future occupations predict students' perceived ability and intentions to use technology in college.

Teaching and instructional materials are where the "rubber meets the road" with instructional technology. This presentation will discuss systemwide initiatives for California Community College faculty to 1) research technology's effectiveness with students and 2) develop technology-enhanced instructional materials. The panel includes faculty participants and program directors from the @ONE Carnegie Scholar Program and CCC Confer MEET Grant.

Immersion of Information Literacy and Technology into Freshman Core Courses

The University of Idaho was awarded a State Board of Education grant to integrate information literacy and technology into interdisciplinary freshman core classes. Collaboration between faculty, librarians, and information technologists is the cornerstone to implement the grant's components, including library resource guides and an information literacy portal.
