Abstract:As enrollments increase at universities throughout Texas, there is ever-increasing pressure on resources that support the two-fold mission of research and instruction. The goal of the Texas Digital Library is to establish a common infrastructure for use by all members of the consortium.

Abstract:A consortium of Houston-area educational institutions have built the EduPop, a new Internet routing point that benefits educators, students, and university affiliates. This presentation will cover the needs, the challenges, the architecture, and the ancillary benefits of this initiative. This project can provide a model for high-speed community-based networking.
