This session presents a case study in the use of Shibboleth (open source software that supports Web-based, inter-institutional authorization) and the Blackboard course management system and offers suggestions to campuses facing similar challenges. Abstract:Shibboleth is used to develop architectures, policy structures, practical technologies, and an open-source implementation to support interinstitutional sharing of Web resources subject to access controls. Georgetown University is working with the Washington Research Library Consortium to extend secure, identity-protected access to publishers' resources that have not yet been Shibboleth enabled.
