New ECAR Study on IT Governance in Higher Education

ECAREDUCAUSE announces a new EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research (ECAR) study, Process and Politics: IT Governance in Higher Education, by Ronald Yanosky with Jack McCredie. This 2008 research study examines the extent of participation in IT governance by campus leaders and constituents; the use of IT governance mechanisms such as IT steering committees, project review, and performance measurement; and practices associated with good IT governance outcomes.

New Research Study--Higher Education IT and Cyberinfrastructure: Integrating Technologies for Scholarship

EDUCAUSE announces a new ECAR research study analyzing a timely and complex IT issue facing higher education today. Because of the critical importance of this topic, the study report is available without charge.

This study, Higher Education IT and Cyberinfrastructure: Integrating Technologies for Scholarship, written by Mark C. Sheehan, explores higher education's involvement in five areas of research-related information technologies: high-performance computing resources, cyberinfrastructure applications and tools, data storage and management resources, advanced network infrastructure resources, and resources for collaboration within virtual communities. The study survey, developed in conjunction with Net@EDU, was completed by 369 North American colleges and universities and is supplemented by a dozen interviews with IT leaders.

Latest ECAR Study--IT Engagement in Research: A View of Medical School Practices

ECAR logoEDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research (ECAR) has published the new study, IT Engagement in Research: A View of Medical School Practice, written by Mark R. Nelson. This ECAR research study was designed in collaboration with the Association of American Medical Colleges to analyze the practices and perspectives of IT organizations that support the academic research enterprise in medical schools and colleges.

ECAR Releases Fourth Annual Study on Students and IT

Because of the topic's critical importance, ECAR has made the full study, as well as key findings and roadmap, publicly available to all.
