Teachers using podcastsa

This is an excellent article for getting started using podcasts. I believe this really makes me feel that there is really something in the Air and that Podcasting is only at the beginning of the beginning.

Somehow the link in the above comment is totally wrong! The link for the iGeneration course is here. Sorry for the mix-up!

Student-Directed Podcasts as Assessment

This is an excellent wide-ranging article which will serve well as an introduction to and argument for podcating in education. It may be worth noting that student-created podcasts have been used in the COmmunications Studies course at the University of Western Australia as the major piece of assessment in the course "iGeneration: Digital Communication & Participatory Culture" [Blog link]. The resulting podcasts are accessible to the public, so feel free to have a listen and comment on them if you're so inclined (there are buttons on the sidebar of the course blog which allow direct access through iTunes, Odeo or the normal podcast feed).

The student podcasts range from an alternative commentary on The Simpsons to a "pod play" (in the style of 1930s RKO radio plays).

There’s Something in the Air: Podcasting in Education

Podcasting is taking its place among the dizzying variety of grassroots media now available to everyone. Those in higher education need to understand the potential uses and value of rich media authoring, bringing podcasting into courses so that students can lift their learning to a whole new level.
