In a masterstroke of naming, the London Met Police have teamed up with Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT), to form the The Film Piracy Unit. Despite the title their role is too:
target the organised criminal networks involved in the manufacture and distribution of counterfeit film products.FACT recently exhibited at Trading Standards Conference & Exhibition, which appears to have been closely followed by this fiasco, in which a Trading Standards clearly had the wrong idea about how copyright licensing works. These complete mis-understandings of the law will be so much more fun when the police are enforcing them rather than local councils...
