ATutor open source VLE releases new version

ATutor Open Source Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) has just released version 1.5.3

It's not a system that I know a whole lot about, since no one locally seems to be running it, but it seems to have broadly similar functionality to systems such as Moodle and Blackboard. One thing I'm really pleased to see is active accessibility checking:

Accessibility Checker: The ATRC AChecker Web service has been integrated into the Content Editor to allow authors to review the accessibility of their content to people with disabilities who may be accessing ATutor using assistive technology. A variety of standards are available for an international audience. AChecker automatically identifies known accessibility problems, and allows authors to make decisions on potential problems that AChecker can not identify for certain. Accessibility reports are saved in the AChecker database, and allow ongoing monitoring of accessibility as content evolves. The AChecker Web service is available as a plugin for TinyMCE, so content can be assessed for accessibility directly from within the editor.

The latest version of ATutor includes a range of new bug fixes and features, including better support for other open source components such as eXe.
