| Abstract: | The University of Central Florida began a systematic course development process in July 1996 to increase educational access by offering online courses toward fulfillment of two degree programs. Twelve faculty from three colleges designed nine fully online courses delivered in the fall of 1996, and 17 faculty from five colleges designed 13 additional courses offered in spring 1997. This paper describes the evolution of the campus infrastructure through use of information technologies to support systematic course development. Experience gained in UCF's online courses is enabling the transformation of on-campus courses for fall 1997 implementation to increase interaction, quality, retention, and productivity. The paper also relates course results. |
