Abstract:This paper is intended to provide college and university administrators with a variety of examples of actions colleges and universities are taking to address the problem of unauthorized peer-to-peer file sharing. The paper does not recommend specific policies and practices but instead tries to assist higher education institutions by conveying information about what a sample of institutions are doing in the areas of education, network management technologies, institutional policies and their enforcement, and the development of legitimate file sharing alternatives.
