Abstract:There is little doubt that being a CIO is one of the most challenging jobs in academic administration today. Uncertainty and instability, coupled with the inherently demanding institutional environment and widely divergent perceptions and expectations of the CIO, tax even the most seasoned professional. What are the institutional warning signs that tell us when a CIO is in trouble? Perhaps more important, what are the remedies to apply before problems have gone too far?
