Tune In Dec. 7 for a Free Web Seminar on the MPAA and RIAA Targeting of College Campuses and Students (updated topic)Created by Colleen Luckett (EDUCAUSE) on December 03, 2007
In this free December 7 EDUCAUSE LIVE! seminar, Swiftboating Higher Education on P2P: Why Higher Education Is Not the Real Problem, and Technology Is Not the Real Solution, presenter Casey Green, founding director of The Campus Computing Project, will address how Big Music and Big Hollywood have targeted colleges and universities via press releases and Congressional lobbying initiatives while largely ignoring the much larger amount of unauthorized P2P file sharing taking place on commercial networks. Those unable to attend may wish to visit the archives after the event or browse related EDUCAUSE resources on P2P or File Sharing, the MPAA, and the RIAA. Note: At the request of the MPAA, the "debate" originally scheduled between Terry Hartle of ACE and Stewart McLaurin of the MPAA will not take place at this time. |
