Find below the entire chat history from the Virtual Worlds Hot Topic Discussion that took place at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference 2007 in Seattle, Washington.

This chat history is actually a combination of two that were captured, mine and Chris Collins from the University of Cincinatti.  A HUGE thanks to Chris and all of the many volunteers who made the event possible.  Also, major thanks go to Peter DeBlois and everyone at EDUCAUSE who made this possible, especially Justin James and his AMAZING team of techs - these guys are the best.

Before the chat, here are some pictures you might enjoy. (Special thanks to Joanna Robinson for the pictures - if you have pictures you'd like to see posted here, please email me with the URL)

Intellagirl Tully: Hello Educause!!!!
Corwin Carillon: bbrb
Beatrice Messmer: Hi, intellagirl!
Beatrice Messmer: Yes, AJ is talking aboutSL on CIS
Beatrice Messmer: Fletcher, check audio.

CDB Barkley: Lost sound as well
Stargazer Blazer: no sound
Zsuzsa Tomsen: me too
Beatrice Messmer: See instructions in chat history
Lucy Ashbourne: same here
Willow Shenlin: yep
CDB Barkley: fuzzy

Willow Shenlin: like a room on the moon-kindda sound
Willow Shenlin: oh
Willow Shenlin: excellent
Intellagirl Tully: sounds better now
Sine Rennahan: sound just got way better
Beatrice Messmer: Thanks for the feedback. I can yell to tech folks here live if you have problems.
Fleep Tuque: Thanks for your patience, and if those of you who are up and about could please take a seat!

Lucy Ashbourne: /woot
Poke Korobase: WOOT
Jhary Jatho: Audio is still very faint...
Willow Shenlin: /wave
CDB Barkley: half a ***Wewtwewt ***
Poke Korobase: That last woot made it here in RL :-)
Willow Shenlin: yes
ReverendMathias Merit raises hand
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: me!
Viktorian Grut: /wave

ReverendMathias Merit: yes
Willow Shenlin: /wave
Beatrice Messmer: /wave
Icabad Vallejo: woot?
ReverendMathias Merit raises hand
Bjorlyn Loon: /wave
Marti Ariel: /wave

gh Zhaoying: here
GEOELDER Clary waves
JoannaTrail Blazer: Fleep promted her
Intellagirl Tully: haha
Fleep Tuque: Hi Deb!
JoannaTrail Blazer: prompted her to join
JoannaTrail Blazer: lol
Fleep Tuque: I hear you!!!
Fleep Tuque waves!
Sine Rennahan: fleep for me too
Intellagirl Tully: Fleep is so passionate!
Intellagirl Tully: haha
Fleep Tuque grins.
JoannaTrail Blazer giggles
Fiona Wobbit: someone yawned
Fleep Tuque: The audio does seem a bit spotty off and on for me, but I am able to hear.
Meriwether Voom: yikes
Willow Shenlin: sound?
Intellagirl Tully: we didn't hear the answer
Zsuzsa Tomsen: network issues at my school
JoannaTrail Blazer: people are worried about branding and reputation
Intellagirl Tully: hardware issues too
Bjorlyn Loon: way back in the 80's I was involved in a remote teaching experiment through California State University, Stanislaus, even then, the technological possibilities seemed infinite. With Second Life, NOW we are getting there.
CDB Barkley: "keeping order" give it up
Fleep Tuque: Comment was about how branding and reputation that SL has for adult material, is that a concern? What is the ability to control the environment?
Intellagirl Tully: the% of adult content in SL is no higher than the % on the web
Fleep Tuque: AJ can remember when the web itself was known for that, but no one says that anymore.
Fleep Tuque: What ends up in the media and what people see in the press is what sells advertisements, not necessary what is actually happening in SL.
CDB Barkley: We need more signal to all the media noise
Bryan Zelmanov: greetings from Educause, folks.
Intellagirl Tully: Folks can also learn so much about how to control their teaching environment, thsoe controls aren't often covered in the press
Ignatius Onomatopoeia applauds--right on
Ignatius Onomatopoeia applauds--right on
Fleep Tuque: (Feel free to have a seat folks near the podium) ;)
Fleep Tuque: Other obstacles?
Fleep Tuque: What other obstacles have you oldtimers here faced?
Intellagirl Tully: video cards are a definite difficulty
Bryan Zelmanov: Hardware is a *serious* issue for campuses.
Bjorlyn Loon: why don't folks stand up and show the class a porn shot in their real university classes? what is developing is an etiquette of social intercourse in virtual worlds
Fleep Tuque: From Seattle, the technology and hardware itself is a major issue.
Intellagirl Tully: agree Bjorlyn
gh Zhaoying: One of the problems from a coporate standpoint is that people think sl is a game
Jhary Jatho: Netwaork lag on campus.
Intellagirl Tully: haha off shore investments or buying a server?
Fleep Tuque: Another issue has been explaining virtual real estate and justifying that.
JoannaTrail Blazer: hey Lyr
Intellagirl Tully: land is the equivalent of bandwidth with the web
Fleep Tuque: (trying to catch the audience comments in Seattle, too faint to hear!)
Fleep Tuque: It's perceived that you must have land in order to be able to do anything..
Alfy Rosebud: audio is fading
Intellagirl Tully: the more land you can buy, the more you pay and th emore you can do
Fleep Tuque: (not necessarily true!)
JoannaTrail Blazer: my typing gesture is deactivated ;)
Fleep Tuque: Some of the meta issues, is perception, technology, and financial.
CDB Barkley: / You dont need land to take advantage of SL.
Intellagirl Tully: but i think that issue ignores the fact that many universities collaborate and share spaces
Fleep Tuque: Do we spend the money and what's the ROI?
Bjorlyn Loon suggests that you all turn up your mics, still can't hear you.
Fleep Tuque: What are the tangible benefits?
gh Zhaoying: Don't forget the corporate thought police
Intellagirl Tully: hahah
Intellagirl Tully: Black Wednesday
Fleep Tuque raises her hand!
ReverendMathias Merit: not anymore
Fleep Tuque: Black Wednesday!
Ignatius Onomatopoeia busts a gut laughing
Fleep Tuque: Hehe
CDB Barkley: / It's not as bad as it was a year ago
Claudia Linden: The Black Wednesday issue is no longer happening
Bjorlyn Loon: /woot wednesdays!
Fleep Tuque: That's true!
Ignatius Onomatopoeia nods
Intellagirl Tully: much much more stable than it's ever been
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: true
Bryan Zelmanov: hi Corwin
Claudia Linden: This is no longer true, AJ, with the introduction of the Het Grid
Corwin Carillon: Hi Bryan
Intellagirl Tully: Awesome Claudia!! Yeah!
Claudia Linden: Wednesday is no longer Black
Claudia Linden: search het grid on blgo
CDB Barkley: / C'mon, Sl is replicating the best and worst of
Rl- do you really want utopia?
Corwin Carillon: Hi Claudia
Claudia Linden: blog.secondlife.com
Corwin Carillon: Hi CDB
Fleep Tuque: Question is: If Linden Lab ceases to exist tomorrow, what about the investment?
Intellagirl Tully: Propriotary content is an issue
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Our class got very lucky, actually, M-F...
Pathfinder Linden: 51k online right now
gh Zhaoying: The numbers on line have doubled since I joined a year ago
JoannaTrail Blazer: welcome Pathfinder, Claudia
Intellagirl Tully: can i address that AJ?
JoannaTrail Blazer: :)
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: 40K barrier was an illusion?
Intellagirl Tully: SL is not empty
Fleep Tuque: Welcome Pathfinder and Claudia!
CDB Barkley: / you have to learn where the people are
Willow Shenlin: yes
gh Zhaoying: here
MonicaMarlo Martinek: woot!
Fleep Tuque: How many here are o the SLED list?
Lucy Ashbourne: yes
Stargazer Blazer: networking... you don't go to the stadium when there is no game
Stargazer Blazer: yes
Bryan Zelmanov: The numbers issue -
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Thanks Pathfinder and Claudia for joining us
CDB Barkley: / expectations the world will socialize around you?
Fleep Tuque: For those of you who are not, you should consider signing up - it is a very high traffic, but the wealth of information is invaluable.
Intellagirl Tully: the perception of emptiness is misleading
Claudia Linden: You can choose digest when you sign up 4200
Willow Shenlin: /use teh digest
Willow Shenlin: /slrl
Fleep Tuque: You can find information from the http://secondlife.com website under the Educators info.
Willow Shenlin: yes
Intellagirl Tully: yep
Bryan Zelmanov: /hug corwin carillon
Willow Shenlin: Claudia sounds fine
Intellagirl Tully: we hear claudi awell
JoannaTrail Blazer: volume of sound is an issue at the first life location
Bjorlyn Loon: /being lonely one issue, being available all the time via IM another, we have folks in SL who are in an "IM generation" and hundreds of thousands of retirees who will discover SL. The latter's perceptions will be quite different.
JoannaTrail Blazer: coming out of SL
Fiona Wobbit: sound was good a second ago
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: okay now
Bryan Zelmanov: Alan!
Corwin Carillon: yep
Juju Ling: I echo that question Fletcher
Intellagirl Tully: we're hearing someone type
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: yep
Intellagirl Tully: yes! you an control it if you need to, if you own the land
Intellagirl Tully: but there's a benefit to NOT controlling it as well
Corwin Carillon: or if you rent the land nd are an estate manager
Bjorlyn Loon: purpose and intent is critical
Bjorlyn Loon: love the way you put that, AJ
Intellagirl Tully: the community is an asse4t not a liability
JoannaTrail Blazer: agreed
Bryan Zelmanov: undestood
gh Zhaoying: skyboxes are inexpenseive and effective
Intellagirl Tully: IM is great for private discussions between instructors and studetns
Yohan Zabelin: hoi Aniek!
Intellagirl Tully: there's so much !
gh Zhaoying: static
Yohan Zabelin: wat leuk die hollanders
gh Zhaoying: Deal with remote learners
gh Zhaoying: Virtual experiential learning
Intellagirl Tully: immersive, role play, simulations, diversity experiments
Intellagirl Tully: student drvien learning in environments they construct
Bjorlyn Loon: Answer: Test my reactions, abilities, in a non-judgmental environment. Learn without grades.
gh Zhaoying: test my hearing
JoannaTrail Blazer: prototype concepts or models that are impossible or difficult in first life, such as an atom
Bjorlyn Loon: good point Katherine
Intellagirl Tully: for sure! collaboration between campuses
gh Zhaoying: Amen claudia
MonicaMarlo Martinek: woot to Sloodle! :)
gh Zhaoying: Much better than traditional e-learning or video conferencien
gh Zhaoying: Caludia comses through time
Intellagirl Tully: but we can also create learnnig spaces that extend past priveldged learning spaces which are usually way out dated on campuses and constructed not by students and instructors but by architects who might be thinking in old learning modes
gh Zhaoying: fine even
Claudia Linden: yes, great point, intellagirl
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Mixed-reality events at our school...no space for these IRL
Claudia Linden: we can do things we cannot do in first life...entirely new kinds of learning environments
gh Zhaoying: amen
Bjorlyn Loon: and the tyranny of class and money is also, to some degree, mitigated
Bryan Zelmanov: Should we compare Second Life to the physical world, or to other digital tools?
Claudia Linden: good question bryan
gh Zhaoying: i can also talk to furries and blue people
Beatrice Messmer: You can teach intro to programming
Fleep Tuque: It's also all about the engagement factor for students
Claudia Linden: i think it's a new place...that's the value of the word Metaverse...shared imaginal world
Claudia Linden: co-created
Bryan Zelmanov: Second Life is *not* filled with people.
Bryan Zelmanov: Stuff
Beatrice Messmer: You can create a movie end-to-end (script, producers, auditions, filming, editing, showing) at a fraction of the cost.
gh Zhaoying: yes
Bryan Zelmanov: Lots, lots of buildings, spaces, objects -
JoannaTrail Blazer: yes loud and clear
Bryan Zelmanov: That's not people.
Stargazer Blazer: /we are people
Claudia Linden: People created every object.
Bryan Zelmanov: Yes, there are 30-40K people online at any time - that isn't "full of people"
Pathfinder Linden: classrooms today in RL are 19th century artifacts, typically :P
Beatrice Messmer: Claudia & Pathfinder, can you give a quick synopsis of what you said?
Bryan Zelmanov: Stargazer, we have a crowd here - that doesn't mean SL is full of people.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: /nods cannot make a mock-up building on our campus green when we want
gh Zhaoying: true
Bryan Zelmanov: There is a difference between being in the same sim, and being in-world but elsewhere - true.
Bjorlyn Loon: /Ahhh, I hate to say it too, but the fact that I am 51 won't color the content of my words in a virtual classroom.
gh Zhaoying: The new CSI site will bring in a lot of new people
gh Zhaoying: cant here
Intellagirl Tully: How many people are on Blackboard at any one time? Web CT?
gh Zhaoying: can't hear
Intellagirl Tully: you can't value a crowd in one place and not in another
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: good point Intellagirl
Lucy Ashbourne: /cant here for the typing noise
Bryan Zelmanov: Intellgirl, if 80% of American campuses are using Blackboard, how many people is that?
Stargazer Blazer: /I used to think that too, that there was no one here; but there are ppl, and as you build your network, you find out where the people are. Search popular places
JoannaTrail Blazer: good point Sarah
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: and one good meeting in-world changes a student's experience
Bryan Zelmanov: Compare with ... the blogosphere?
Bryan Zelmanov: Facebook?
Bryan Zelmanov: Heck, del.icio.us has more people.
Intellagirl Tully: Brayan, the campuses us them but do the students really spend itme on them?
CDB Barkley will take quality of experience over big numbers
Bryan Zelmanov: If we assume that SL is about events, and small groups, that's very different from saying the place is full of people.
Intellagirl Tully: and SL isn't an isolated tech, it can be used in conjunction with FB, Delcisious, blackboard etc
Claudia Linden: Group tools facilitate learning communities and events. Many organizations are using these very skillfully to bring people together in purposeful ways.
JoannaTrail Blazer: and Moodle
JoannaTrail Blazer: :)
Bryan Zelmanov: CDB, I agree about quality of experience versus quantity -
Claudia Linden: Can you speak louder?
Intellagirl Tully: AJ can you repeat the queestio nbeing asked?
gh Zhaoying: Quantiy will be there eventually
Talmage Bagley: Can't hear anything!!!
CDB Barkley: Yes, perhaps in hipihi ;-)
Intellagirl Tully: why is quanitity so important? why do there need to be millions of people to make the space valuable
gh Zhaoying: But you can't judge by the population density of an island or region
Narci Shan: /with an avatar and visual elements you can have much deeper communication then just chat or fora
gh Zhaoying: Because the world also grows
Bryan Zelmanov: Intellagirl, students spend some amount of time in Blackboard and other CMSes.
AJ Brooks: if you can't hear AJ easily, please turn up his avatars vol in your client
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: How about real-time modern language classes? Our Spanish and French Depts. are very excited about SL and voice.
gh Zhaoying: ditoto
Bjorlyn Loon: /claudia, and some are prepared in advance, edited, vetted, like blogs or a facebook page.... the group tools that Linden has provided are more immediate. This is a new tool, not a mirror of the internet.
Bryan Zelmanov: gh, the world grows, but the amount of stuff and space is outpacing the social layer very much.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Native speakers anytime you want.
Bryan Zelmanov: Intellagirl, the quantity matters for all sorts of reasons.
Bryan Zelmanov: 1) There was the old problem of the "residents" number being overinflated - dunno if we want to get into that.
AJ Brooks: and focus you camera on him and have he v ice settings for camera
Willow Shenlin: /exactly. use SL as part of the internet ecology
Bjorlyn Loon: /lol or voice at the moment
gh Zhaoying: hear hear
Bryan Zelmanov: 2) If we consider CL to be social networking, the number of available contacts is very important in that field.
Juju Ling: Thank you speaker...this is a good answer
Fleep Tuque: Please folks, have a seat at the benches
Fleep Tuque: and we are asking that you please send your comments through the moderators at the panel table
Bryan Zelmanov: Fletcher, can you explain?
Fleep Tuque: You can right click and choose IM to send your message
Bjorlyn Loon: /yaaaay for the use of the word pedagogy in a spoken sentence!
Intellagirl Tully: jaja
Intellagirl Tully: haha
Intellagirl Tully: Pedagogy!
Bryan Zelmanov: Why is it remarkable to mention pedagogy?
Intellagirl Tully: yep
gh Zhaoying: no
Willow Shenlin: yes
Fleep Tuque: Yes!
Stacy Perfferle: /sort of
Lucy Ashbourne: \yes
Bjorlyn Loon: /just makes the geek in me happy, Bryan!
Intellagirl Tully: haha
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: if It drives technology-use, that's the trick
CDB Barkley: /yay Nick!
Fleep Tuque: The question was regarding the ability to experience other cultures in this environment
Bryan Zelmanov: Nice to hear you, Nick
Intellagirl Tully: it's awesome for immersive language learning
Ignatius Onomatopoeia nods
CDB Barkley: /nick Noakes
Bryan Zelmanov: so so much for the numbers discussion?
Fleep Tuque: There is a huge range of cultures in Second Life in addition to the SL culture itself that can be very valuable for teaching
Willow Shenlin: /maya Realities.com will get you great images on stats, such as picture of world languages in SL
Fleep Tuque: And I believe that's Nick Noakes from Hong Kong speaking, but I could be wrong. :)
gh Zhaoying: Immersion languange teaching
Beatrice Messmer: Yup, that's him!
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Colleague at VA Commonwealth is studying branding & culture here
Beatrice Messmer: /wave
Fleep Tuque laughs.
Bjorlyn Loon: I have a question, for Claudia, what are the opportunities for going voice to text..... eeek!
Bjorlyn Loon: /would be nice atm
Alfy Rosebud: can't hear a word
Intellagirl Tully: Go students!!!
Bjorlyn Loon: /lol, and a great hat that is, Pathfinder!
GenU Korobase: sound is on
Bryan Zelmanov: like we're doing here? ;)
GenU Korobase: thats a good escape!
CDB Barkley: / It is nearly impossible to appreciate the benefit and experience of social presence looking in from the outside
Fleep Tuque: Sage on the Stage -> Guide on the Side -> What's happening in SL is somehting else?
gh Zhaoying: imagine a survival team building exercise where you are actually in the environment with your team.
CDB Barkley: / of course you can; can you take people on a tour of a 3d molecule in chat? can you build a model of rome in a chat?
Intellagirl Tully: Go Waynebrave!!!
Fleep Tuque: Yes, the SaLamander and SLoodle projects are both very exciting developments.
Intellagirl Tully: salamander is in oregon
Intellagirl Tully: Sloodle in CA
Intellagirl Tully: both awesome!
Fleep Tuque: Wainbrave Bernal is the avatar coordinating SaLamander
gh Zhaoying: what training organization?
Fleep Tuque: More information about SaLamander at http://www.slideshare.net/wainbrave/the-salamander-project/ for slides
gh Zhaoying: light years different
gh Zhaoying: It will take a lot to wean corporate trainers away from guide on the side
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: we need a metaphor....
Stargazer Blazer: /I like moderator in the middle :P
Intellagirl Tully: agreed gh...i work with a lot of corp trainers and this is changing the way they think as well
CDB Barkley: / "avatar in te bar"
gh Zhaoying: Too many resources investing in Learning management systems to try something cheaper and more creative.
Intellagirl Tully: haha
gh Zhaoying: Bravo
Claudia Linden: thanks for inviting us
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: thank you!
Claudia Linden: great work everyone
gh Zhaoying: can't hear you aj
Pathfinder Linden: yes, thank you for the opportunity to be here
Claudia Linden: and we are taking all of your issues very seriously
Fleep Tuque: (who can't speak!)
CDB Barkley: / yay Fleep
Stargazer Blazer: yayyy Fleep!
Fleep Tuque: But thanks AJ!
CDB Barkley: / Fleep is tops
Lyr Lobo claps
Claudia Linden: yay Cincinnati ;D
Sine Rennahan: woo hoo fleep
Sine Rennahan: sounds good to me
Claudia Linden: people who find it too loud can turn down their volumes
CDB Barkley: /sorry have to run. Early morning here in Brisbane. Have fun in Seatlle
Fleep Tuque: Question: How long would it take to build an environment like this?
ReverendMathias Merit: 20 minutes
Intellagirl Tully: and perhaps the question is how long does it take for students to adapt and build the spaces they want to use
Intellagirl Tully: rather than how long does it take us to build for them
Tori Annenberg: Hi I'm here
Fleep Tuque: I can hear you Tori!
gh Zhaoying: You can buy templates what will create something like this.
Marti Ariel: unless part of the teaching requires a replication of a real world environment
Claudia Linden: aj she is talking
Juju Ling: and can you type the answer to the question too?
Juju Ling: The question about time frame for building
gh Zhaoying: YOu can also rent structures like this and classrooms on a short term basis.
Bjorlyn Loon: Tori, can ya turn up your mic?
Juju Ling: still any answer to length of time?
Fleep Tuque: It very much depends upon your learning curve and what skills you bring to the table.
Intellagirl Tully: yeah 6-8 hours from scratch
Intellagirl Tully: and whether there is scripting involved
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Our student tech-volunteers REALLY took to building on our island
Fleep Tuque: AJ is saying with his skill level, he could do it much more quickly now than in the beginning.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: right
Tori Annenberg: Yes! Exactly
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: yes
gh Zhaoying: Yes... very much
Fleep Tuque: Agree completely!
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: A gift culture--I've heard academia called that, too
Bjorlyn Loon: LOL dorms are cool.
Bryan Zelmanov: Web 2.0 works this way, too.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: true--open-source paradise
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Kula sims
Bjorlyn Loon: /not to mention scripting!!! wow!
Juju Ling: yes! Thanks for that answer
Lyr Lobo: / depends on your level of expertise...was able to build and script an island for 6 classes and 16 events in 4 days (after wiping it)
Lyr Lobo: / with a few custom textures...
Lyr Lobo: / well the trick is to reuse and understsand how to solve problems using scripts... then it takes less time
Fleep Tuque: Someone has their mic open? Please mute!
Fleep Tuque: Unless you're Intellagirl!
Sine Rennahan: jeez the echo is maddening
Bryan Zelmanov: Blogs for reflection is really good.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: who's Virtual Bacon?
Claudia Linden: Interesting integration of SL with wikis and blogs here: http://kn.open.ac.uk/public/getfile.cfm?documentfileid=11344
Bjorlyn Loon: /this is where, for the "average" user, things tend to fall apart.... builders without PR, ideas without construction
Claudia Linden: This is the Open U's project with teens in Second Life.
Claudia Linden: Sloodle has a blog HUD that let's you blog out from SL to moodle.
Juju Ling: That's not really a technical challenge - that's a learning design quesiton...no?
Bjorlyn Loon: /lol
Bjorlyn Loon: /and here is where communications come in, isn't it? 3 weeks, 3 days, 3 hours? for what?
Bryan Zelmanov: cheers, guys
Stargazer Blazer: /repeat question please
ManqoQhapaqInca Qunhua is Online
Willow Shenlin: /what's next: like what the Japanese have shown, brain waves controlling the environment
JoannaTrail Blazer: Trailblazing :)
Willow Shenlin: /then direct connection with teh standard web 2.0
Stargazer Blazer: /more integration between cultures
Bjorlyn Loon is surprised. Power in a virtual world is focused today on those who can create. Tomorrow, it will be focused on those who can create relationships and communicate.
Intellagirl Tully: AJ, Fleep has passed another question to me when ur ready
Willow Shenlin: /oen reality though: there are still geographical realities: unless some poeple can live withought sleep
Willow Shenlin: bbetween continents
Bjorlyn Loon agrees with Fletcher.
JoannaTrail Blazer: this is first life audience now
Fleep Tuque: The question relates to the long history of virtual worlds that came before Second Life, but missed the tail end of it.
JoannaTrail Blazer: question from in world?
Fleep Tuque: Agree, Michelle Dickey at Miami University at Oxford, OH has done quite a bit of research on Active Worlds.
Stargazer Blazer: /students dislike open-ended learning environment, used to objectives
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: Exactly...that's our students now..."what's the point? they asked me"
Bjorlyn Loon: /you know, as much as I dislike that personally, I think you are very right.
Bjorlyn Loon that was directed to Stargazer.
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: that, though, is precisely hte experience this gen of kids had--helicopter parents
Fleep Tuque: We will be providing that!
Ignatius Onomatopoeia: I logged it
Willow Shenlin: yes yes
Intellagirl Tully: And feel free o write down names here in SL and IM in us afterwards
Fleep Tuque: Thank you all very much, I wish I could say it!
Fleep Tuque: Apologies for my voice dying just as it started. :)
Fleep Tuque: (My machine, I should note, not SL!)
Willow Shenlin: Digital Ethnography has interesting videos on how students learn now
