My Bio
Walter is the Chief Information Officer for the University of Nebraska reporting to the Office of the President. Some of the major activities he has been working on include:
Chair of the Nebraska Information Technology Commission Technical Panel, which has responsibility for designing and implementing the State of Nebraska’s computing, e-government and e-commerce infrastructure and architecture.
Chair of the Financial Systems Task Force with responsibility for the successful implementation and operation of the U-Wide SAP Financial and Human Resource system.
Developed and deployed the University's first Data Warehouse and subsequent executive Information system.
Designed and implemented the University of Nebraska’s “Virtually Integrated University”.
Co-Prime contractor for Nebraska’s Statewide educational and telehealth network.
Previously Walter was Associate Vice President and CIO at Fordham University in New York and prior to that Associate Professor of Computer Science at the US Military Academy, West Point, New York. Walter is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and has an undergraduate degree in Economics and master’s degrees in Military Arts and Science, Business Administration and Computer Science.
