My Bio

Hilary J. Baker is VIce President for Information Technology and CIO at California State University, Northridge, responsible for leading the Information Technology division and directing the strategic planning process for CSUN's technology initiatives.

Hilary has over twenty five years of information technology experience, primarily in the higher education and non-profit environments. Prior to joining CSUN, Hilary was the Associate VP and CIO at Pepperdine University leading their Information Technology division, including the successful launch of a major new ERP initiative . Prior to Pepperdine, Hilary served as the Senior Director, Information Technology Services, for the California State University Office of the Chancellor where she managed the planning, design, development, implementation and support of a system-wide suite of human resource, financial and student information systems to support the administrative requirements of the 23 California State University campuses. Prior to the CSU, Hilary worked at the J. Paul Getty Trust/Museum where she managed the administrative and programmatic information systems.

Hilary served on the Board of PeopleSoft’s Higher Education User Group from 1999 - 2002 and is currently a member of the Oracle Higher Education Executive Advisory Council. She has held numerous committee appointments with EDUCAUSE and the Seminars on Academic Computing (SAC). She served as chair for the EDUCAUSE 2004 Program Committee and is currently serving as Chair of the SAC Board. Hilary was recipient of the 2004 Computerworld Honors Laureate, awarded for visionary use of information technology and the 2004 Annual Issues Program within Leadership California, a program for California women executives.

Hilary earned a M.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA where she majored in computer-based information systems, and a B.Sci. Joint Honors in Mathematics and Geography from the University of Birmingham, England.
