Sara Gomez is the Vice Provost and Chief Information Officer, Office of Information Management (VP-IM/CIO) at the University of Washington. Sara, who has over 20 years experience in the development and implementation of enterprise information services, has been leading this new organization since it was created in November, 2007.
The VP-IM/CIO reports primarily to the Provost, and also reports to the Vice President of UW Technology on technology issues. The VP-IM/CIO serves on both the Provost and UW Technology leadership teams and participates on the Information Management Advisory Committee (I-MAC), responsible for the governance and portfolio management of the university’s information management and administrative systems.
Since joining the UW in 2001, Sara has been in a variety of leadership roles in Computing & Communications (now UW Technology), providing leadership, direction and vision for the development and ongoing support of the university’s enterprise administrative systems, including data warehousing.
Prior to joining the UW, Sara was a consultant specializing in quality assurance and project management for large, enterprise information technology projects. Sara’s consulting experience also included working for Price Waterhouse’s Management Consulting Services.
Sara completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and Business Administration at California State University, Chico. Outside of her professional work, Sara enjoys antique collecting and interior design and her homes have been published in a variety of decorating magazines.
