Joni E. Spurlin

Joni E. Spurlin, Ph.D., University Director of Assessment, North Carolina State University. For the past 14 years, she has provided leadership and expertise to faculty, administration and staff in development of tools of assessment, institutional effectiveness and planning processes. She has worked with faculty on improving outcomes assessment for in a wide variety of disciplines. She provides assistance on university projects; to the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan “LITRE: Learning in a Technology-Rich Environment”, as well as college and departmental efforts in assessment. She has expertise in developing qualitative assessment including case-study, survey design, and focus groups, as well as quantitative expertise and statistical knowledge. Her research agenda focuses on effective assessment methods related to using technology in education and retention of students.
