About Me

My Bio

Scot French is Associate Professor and Director of the Virginia Center for Digital History at the University of Virginia. An historian of race and slavery in 19th and 20th century American culture, he is the author of The Rebellious Slave: Nat Turner in American Memory (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 2004) and several co-authored essays on Thomas Jefferson, Booker T. Washington, and other historical figures. Each semester he teaches a digital history seminar in partnership with an archive, museum, or cultural institution.
