Stephen D. Franklin is Assistant Director for Academic Outreach in UC Irvine's Network & Academic Computing Services and a Lecturer in Irvine's School of Information and Computer Science.
A career-long UCI employee, he has served in many different
capacities: teaching, research and research support, developing software, and managing various groups. An early (1993) advocate of the Web, in 1995 he coordinated the campus collaboration which established Irvine's Electronic Educational Environment. He serves on various system-wide coordinating groups and is UC Irvine's 'Designated Agent' for handling copyright infringement allegations under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. His doctorate is in Mathematics, and he is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Association for Computing Machinery.
