Ann West holds a joint appointment with the Internet2 Middleware Initiative and EDUCAUSE as the Outreach Coordinator for the NMI-EDIT Consortium and is responsible for planning and implementing the education and awareness products and programs offered by the Consortium.
Ann’s most recent previous appointment was as Director of Distributed Computing Services at Michigan Technological University and was responsible for the institution’s Internet and network-related services. In addition to leading the enterprise middleware implementation, Ann was the Michigan Tech’s liaison to the Internet2 Middleware Early Adopter’s Program.
Ann also held a number of positions that leveraged her interest in the relationships among technology and user audiences. For example, she lead the move toward distributed computing at Michigan Tech through her work as manager of the project to replace the academic mainframe with locally administered workstations. Concurrently, she led the education effort to assist faculty with their adoption of the new computer environment and co-chaired the campus committee to address support issues with the new distributed model.
