About Me

My Bio

Eja Kliphuis has held positions in Dutch higher education since 1991. Since 1999, she has been active in the field of ICT and learning. Currently, she holds a position as an educational consultant within the ICT& Education department of INHOLLAND University of Professional Education. Since 2003 she is the coordinator of SURF’s Good Practices website (in Dutch): Good Practices of ICT-innovation in Higher Education are published, reviewed and made ready for re-use. She was one of the researchers of ‘Hergebruik van materialen en methodieken’ (Re-using materials and methods) in 2007.

Since 2004 she had a role as institutional coordinator within two Digital University projects on introducing and using concept maps in Higher Education: results are published on a C-maps website (in Dutch). She now moderates a project called ‘Visual Learning’ inviting INHOLLAND colleagues to share their (practices with) concept maps on a Teamsite.

In 2005, she led the researchteam that collected the data for a national study on the impact of the large SURF innovation projects on Dutch higher education practice.

She has been an editor in the Dutch report on the yearly visit to the EDUCAUSE conference for several years. As a so called ‘Opperguide’ in SURF’s EduTrip to EDUCAUSE she guided a group of Dutch participants visiting EDUCAUSE while publishing on the Edutrip website in 2005, a Edutrip wiki and Edutrip blog in 2006 (all in Dutch). A summary of the findings at EDUCAUSE 2005 is published in English (pages 47 – 50).

An example of Eja’s ‘visual notes’ on a conference session is in the Edutrip wiki. Last year at EDUCAUSE Ulrich Rauch, Tim Wang, Pim Slot and Eja had a discussion on Pachyderm, rich media, and other visual tools: a podcast is on the Edutrip blog. Further contact between us led to this year’s pre-conference ‘Let’s get visual!’
