My Bio
Michael D. Redmond is Vice-President of Technology and Information Services at Bergen Community College. Bergen Community College, located in suburban Northern New Jersey, is a comprehensive community college with over 13,000 students enrolled in its credit bearing programs. His responsibilities include information and instructional technology, library, public relations and marketing, distance education, media technologies, and faculty IT training programs.
Six years ago, the College found itself woefully unprepared for Y2K, few faculty had computers in their offices, and student labs were fairly primitive. Today, the College boasts of more than fifty high tech computer labs on campus, including state of the art animation, CAD, and manufacturing labs; 85 smart classrooms; a sophisticated campus network delivering voice and video to the desktop as well as data; approximately 80 online courses enrolling around 2,000 students; a center for instructional technology offering faculty 80 to 100 instructional technology workshops each semester; and a web-based registration and student administrative software system. A lifecycle technology refresh plan ensures that computers and other technology assets remain current, while controlling costs.
Dr. Redmond is also a Professor of Philosophy and Religion at the College.
