About Me

My Bio

Melissa Martyr-Wagner received her MS from Iowa State University in 1991. She was previously the instructional technology coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She now serves as the manager of customer service for Networking & Telecommunications Services at the University of Minnesota. She has held a number of leadership positions, including volunteer and paid experiences in both her private and professional life.


Melissa is a self-proclaimed life-long learner whose academic background is in student development theory. Within the higher education community she has worked not only in technology and administration but also in career counseling, academic advising, and student-alumni programming.



Previous to her work at the University of Minnesota, Melissa worked for Iowa State University and Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton NJ. Her research interests include: educational technology, technology adoption by faculty, student services technologies and distributed learning. She is also interested in VoIP and instant messaging.



Melissa is one of the founders of a language immersion K-6 charter school that opened in Forest Lake MN last fall. She also recently served on the District 831 Technology Task Force charged with planning the future of technology in district schools. In her free time she enjoys Tetris and old school video games, sailing, and shopping on eBay. She is the mother two children under the age of 7 – the eldest of which is an avid IM’er, GameBoy'er and PlayStation afficiondo.
