FCC Votes Against Comcast in a 3-2 Decision

Created by Anna M. Gould (EDUCAUSE) on August 01, 2008

The Associated Press is reporting that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) delivered a 3-2 decision against cable giant Comcast this morning.

The FCC ruled that the company violated federal policies on Internet openness when it blocked certain traffic from its subscribers. They ordered Comcast to change the way it manages its network, but stopped short of imposing fines.

Comcast continues to say that the FCC's Internet access policies are not law and are therefore, unenforceable.

This matter will most likely end up in the courts...
