Abstract:To a large degree, learning resource metadata is viewed as a single, static entity. An alternative approach will be presented here, one where metadata has multiple authors, is distributed across multiple locations, and depends on the resource being described and the point of view of the person reading it. Such metadata is an instance of distributed representation. This talk will describe the nature and properties of a distributed system, contrast it with current approaches, and provide development and deployment examples.
