Abstract:

This session will review service oriented architecture from a number of perspectives We will define SOA, discuss its value to higher education, and present use cases on how it can enhance our scholarly and enterprise systems. Challenges in organizing for and implementing SOA will be highlighted including a discussion of using SOA in enterprise open source development as well as distributed environments.

Abstract:Successful migration to service oriented architect (SOA) requires complex changes in culture, technology, organization, and budget. This session will define SOA, explain the benefits, give example use cases, and compare SOA to data-based solutions. We will cover governance, security, and policy issues along with organizational changes that must occur.
