Abstract:People involved in technology and education today face enormous opportunities and challenges. Developing technology plans is complex yet straightforward, but to support education with technology effectively requires a broader view and historical understanding of cultural and organizational developments. Thinking about the answers to big-picture questions and individual roles and responsibilities within the context of long-term dynamics gives fresh insight into ways each of us can move from responding to opportunity to creating opportunit-e.

Abstract:This session reports the results of the June 2004 ECAR research study, Information Technology Alignment in Higher Education. For this study, ECAR surveyed 464 U.S. and 19 Canadian institutions and conducted qualitative interviews with 22 institutions to discover how information technology priorities, plans, resources, intentions, and actions are aligned with the broad institutional vision.
