The Data Classification Toolkit is a compilation of resources pertaining to data classification in higher education. Although data classification is just one component of a comprehensive program to protect data, it is an important foundation. This Toolkit consolidates resources from the EDUCAUSE web site as well as from other sources, and organizes them into four basic steps.

Disaster Mitigation Planning Assistance Website, Flood Mitigation Assistance Program: FEMA's grant program to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage, and dPlan: The Online Disaster-Planning Tool: A site from the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) which allows you to enter data into an online template to create a customized disaster plan for your institution.

The purpose of this toolkit is to provide resources for business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including guides, templates, examples and tips.  The information provided herein is intended to be of value in the development, testing, enactment and revising of business continuity efforts. This Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery toolkit is an ongoing work in progress.  As new resources are developed and best practices shift, updated information will be provided here.

The Security Task Force Risk Assessment Working Group has developed this list of Risk Assessment tools which can aid with a risk assessment. The tools are a mix of some sold or licensed by vendors, some provided by colleague institutions, and some from associations or standards groups. This list does not contain any comparative or value judgment information regarding the tools. It merely provides the list as a starting point for the product-seeking process.

The ELI Student/Faculty Questionnaire is designed to help you explore student and faculty experiences and expectations with technology in teaching and learning. Specifically, the questionnaire examines student and faculty

• Familiarity with learning technologies,
• Expectations for the use of technology in teaching and learning, and
• Views on how students prefer to learn.

This questionnaire provides insight into possible gaps that may exist at your institution, such as

• The difference between the learning technologies that are expected by today's students and those that your faculty feel comfortable using, and
• Students' self-described learning preferences contrasted with faculty perceptions of those preferences.

The Net Generation Workshop Guide is a collection of simple activities and suggested readings on the Net Generation. It is divided into easily customized modules that can be used as stand-alone activities lasting a couple of hours or all together for a multi-day event. They have been designed for faculty development, staff retreats, or similar programs.

The Learning Space Workshop Guide offers a set of action-oriented, modifiable, modular activities for use in faculty development, staff retreats, or similar events. The activities encourage critical thinking about characteristics and principles of effective learning space design, the pedagogical roles of technology, student perspectives, assessment, and related issues.

Applying Technology to Teaching and Learning is a set of guides to help you select and integrate technology into teaching and learning. Whether you are a faculty member, academic administrator, instructional technologist, or part of a planning committee you may find them useful to:

• Focus on the key learning issues that should drive technology selection
• Better understand your technology options
• Implement the technology that best supports your teaching and learning objectives

The ELI Discovery Tool: Guide to Blogging offers practical information about how blogging can be used in teaching and learning and walks users through the important considerations for implementation. It presents real-life examples and first-hand accounts of class blogging; advice on important planning questions, engaging stakeholders, faculty support, and assessment; and an annotated list of helpful resources.

The PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) is an important validation tool that is primarily used by smaller merchants and service providers to demonstrate compliance to the PCI DSS.

The ELI Student Input on Learning Spaces Tool is patterned on need-finding techniques practiced at Stanford University's Institute of Design. It gives colleges and universities a structured yet creative way of seeing their campuses as their students do, and thus to more effectively plan and design institutional learning spaces.
