Rodney Murray
About MeMy BioDr. Murray began writing software for microcomputers shortly after their introduction while completing his doctoral research in Pharmacology at Temple University School of Medicine. Rodney has published in the area of neuropharmacology and has co-authored a book on the use of microcomputers in pharmacology research (Manual of Pharmacologic Calculations with Computer Programs, 2nd Edition, Springer-Verlag, NY, 1987). Statistical and data analysis software (PHARM/PCS) he first published in 1981 is still widely used in pharmacology and pharmaceutical research labs world-wide. Since graduate school he has combined his interest in pharmacology and computers in several ways. After his postdoctoral fellowship in receptor pharmacology at Temple, he worked for Biosearch Incorporated, where he served as director of computer services and head pharmacologist, and finally as vice president of scientific affairs. In February 1987, Dr. Murray was recruited to direct the newly formed Office of Academic Computing at Jefferson. Today, while continuing to teach pharmacology, he has focused his computer expertise on applying information technology to teaching and learning. He has overseen the development of numerous computer-based learning programs (CD-ROM and web-based) and has promoted the use of the World Wide Web in the curriculum.
