  • Special Meeting Time: This Thursday, March 21st, 5-6pm EDT: Guest Speaker Jonathan Rupprecht

    Hello all RPAS CG members!

Our next monthly meeting will be held at a special time! On Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 5pm - 6pm EDT, we'll be hosting guest speaker Jonathan Rupprecht! This session will be more of a Q & A time in which Jonathan can address the sort of questions we've all been struggling with. Whether it's best practices in setting up a FRIA, how to handle RemoteID, or anything else related to operating drones within the law, Jonathan is one of the country's experts.

From his biography page: "Jonathan has made numerous media appearances (New York Times, Politico, Forbes, etc.) on the topic of drones as a drone attorney. His legal analysis of drones has been sought after by major media networks and drone industry-specific media. Not only have the networks reached out to him for his analysis, but they have also cited his legal works when reporting on major drone-related stories." See more about Jonathan at this link: About Jonathan Rupprecht

Please post any questions you have in advance for Jonathan in our Questions for Jonathan Rupprecht document. Jonathan has experience with helping Higher Educational institutions acquire FRIA approvals, has consulted on BVLOS flights, has represented clients in numerous ways before the FAA and law enforcement, and has become a significant voice for analysis of drone law.

If you don't have access to these documents, email Doug Willen (willen@swarthmore.edu) and Jenn Stewart (jas72@psu.edu) and we'll make sure you get access.

We look forward to seeing all of you again!

  • 2023 EDUCAUSE Student Success Community Group Survey

We would like to gather feedback from everyone to see what you, the community group,  want from the Student Success Analytics Community Group (SSA CG).  The SSA CG Steering Committee is dedicated to the success of this group, and we will use the results of this survey to inform the direction of the SSA CG.

Student success analytics is a broad concept. As our community has grown, the steering committee has intentionally been inclusive by not limiting the definition of student success analytics. With that in mind, as you answer the remaining questions, please think of student success analytics in your context.

This survey is anonymous, so we thank you for your thoughtful, honest feedback.

Our group authored such articles as "A Framework for Student Success Analytics", "Discrimination in a Sea of Data: Exploring the Ethical Implications of Student Success Analytics", "A Rubric Accompanying the Student Success Analytics Framework".

If you'd like to participate in future similar projects, you'll find more information on how to do so in the survey.

This survey should not take more than 5 minutes of your time. This survey will be open until September 22.

  • Survey on Billing for IT Services May 2nd through May 15th

    Good afternoon all,

We want to bring the following survey to your collective attention. The Communications Infrastructure and Applications (CIA) CG is sponsoring this survey to gather institutional financial approaches to paying for and life cycling key telecom equipment and services. The Network Management (netman) and Wireless Local Area Networking (wireless) CGs may also benefit from this data. The CIA CG steering committee and the financial working group will have full access to the data. The aggregate data will be publicly shared with the CIA CG and available for anyone to view.

These questions assume you are knowledgeable or have access to obtain answers around the following areas below. Thus you may need to gather information from other areas of your institution for these question topics:

Understanding of established annual budgets, and main source of funding; which services you have a charge back model or cost recovery funding model; equipment life cycle information, and any feedback (pro or con) for these models.

The survey is now available now until end of day Monday May 15, 2023 -  CIA - Unified Communications, Networking, and Telecom Billing Practices Survey - May 2023 and should take approximately 8 minutes to complete.

We will review all results at a future monthly virtual meetup.

    Thank you.

    --Mark Wehrle, CIA CG Team
