Bio

Dr. Veronica Diaz, CAE is the Senior Director of professional learning and development at EDUCAUSE and leads learning and development programs and services that support and advance the overall strategic priorities of the assocation. She serves member needs with excellence in program design and development, program delivery, and program evaluation. Veronica advises senior leaders on methods for improving or enhancing member engagement and aligning services with member needs. She is responsible for contributing to the strategic management of the professional learning product portfolio serving over 2000 higher education institutions in the US and abroad, along with corporate, not-for-profit associations and K12 organizations, building and coordinating with partners to create new learning programs, and providing operational oversight for existing programs. Veronica also supports the association’s online programs, which currently serve over 10,000 members annually. She supports face-to-face events and conference-based learning experiences and leads the EDUCAUSE microcredentialing program and virtual and place-based mentoring programs.

From 2009 to 2018, Veronica served as Director for EDUCAUSE online programs advancing the Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development division’s overall strategic priorities and member needs in online learning experiences. This includes program design and delivery, and advising senior leadership on methods for improving or enhancing member engagement and aligning services with member needs. Veronica also served as the associate director of the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative for 9 years conceptualizing and developing resources that support institutions in integrating teaching, learning, and technology on campus. She provided leadership to various ELI programs: Seeking Evidence of Impact, the 7 Things You Should Know About series and management for EDUCAUSE teaching and learning leadership development programs, such as Leading Academic Transformation and the Next Generation Learning Challenges.

Prior to her position at EDUCAUSE, Veronica supported and led learning technologies and faculty development initiatives at the Maricopa Community College Center for Learning and Instruction serving its 10-college system. While at Maricopa, she served as co-principal investigator for the Maricopa Technological Literacy National Science Foundation grant, as co-chair to the Instructional Technology Leadership Council responsible for directing the Maricopa Community Colleges learning technology strategic plan, and managed the district-wide Teaching and Learning with Technology Grants Program supporting research and development in the areas of emerging technologies, assessment of online learning, and blended learning.

Active in the field of online and blended learning and instructional innovation, Diaz serves on various national teaching and learning advisory boards, is a public speaker, and has authored several publications on faculty use of instructional technology, blended learning delivery models, intellectual property policies for distributed learning environments, microcredentialing, professional learning, and emerging technologies.
