Been tossing this one around for a while internally and wanted to post external for some community input. Do we really need to continue to have an ASN and use BGP for a network our size? Currently we have a /23 and /24 from a legacy carrier that we want to return, we are no longer using them for WAN ...

We have not found an alternative and went with their tier 4 package. Being an EDU you can ask for an education discount (billing@haveibeenpwned.com) which is 75%. Thanks, Blake Brown IT Manager

A couple of my collogues and I have used their DDoS / DNS services in past lives with excellent results. The UI is easy to use, and the protections are top notch for a free service. Bonus is that you are not tied to a specific ISP so you can manage your own DNS destiny. We actually just had a sales ...

We removed individuals from our public directory several years back and only list departmental contacts on the public website. We got some pushback but were able to navigate through it based on the reasonable concerns for increased phishing to these individuals. Thanks, Blake Brown IT INF/SEC MGR

Following. Windows Hello is on our roadmap but we were waiting for our W11 rollout to be more completed before going down this path. Also, we still have quite a few desktops without a camera currently. Thanks, Blake Brown IT INF/SEC MGR Mt. Hood CC

Migrated the college away from CUCM in 2016 over to Asterisk/FreePBX, did continue to use the 79xx handsets to this day. Was a good move for the college from a feature/cost perspective and plan to refresh that system in 2023-2024 with the latest version, mobile app and a handset refresh. Looking at Yealink ...

If they are a 3rd party vendor, then they are asked to use our Guest of Vendor Wi-Fi networks. Long term Vendors get access to the Vendor SSID along with access to the wired LAN in the same VLAN as the vendor wireless. Currently we do not utilize a NAC on the wired side but it is on our 2024 roadmap. ...

From a Cyber OSINT perspective this type of info is gold. Could help attackers narrow down specific high value targets and then focus on them for attacks. We use Site24x7 for external monitoring and SolarWinds on the inside, both require logins. Thanks, Blake Brown INF/Sec Mgr

Fun times! Some thoughts on this one. Limit users access to critical systems/data sources while abroad where you can. Will they need access to every system or just a few while abroad. See if these systems they do need to access support roles-based access to help meet this adjective Utilize a cellular ...

We (IT) have used 1password since 2016 with much success in minimizing our overall password spray risk. Late last year I introduced 1password to our Business Office users and implemented it for each of them, some pushback but most understood the need. Next steps are to do the same for Payroll, HR and ...
