Your firewalls can probably do it too if it comes down to that. Fortigate\Palo have it built in. I imagine they all do these days. I gave up my PacketShaper in 2011 and had my Fortigates handle it. John SUNY ESF jfkaftan@esf.edu Book time to meet with me

Jason: With a class B wouldn't you have enough addresses to stay public AND create your IP trust domains? You could selectively use 1918 address, e.g. phones, HVAC, network gear management IPs etc. Then keep your public IPs for applications you want to keep separate and that you will likely need ...

I haven't read through all of these so sorry if someone else suggested this but have you considered "and I shiver" a cheap switches like Netgear? I looked up one netgear switch and it will run between 32 - 122 degrees F and cost $300 for 48 ports. You could also go Cisco refurbished. You can get a 2960s ...

I was talking to a colleague about this yesterday. We have enabled station to station blocking so we do not allow end users to talk to each other via wireless. We don't have residence halls so no personal stuff like printers. Since that is the case, the only thing they really need to do is get an IP ...

I have spent the last 10 min going nuts with Librespeed. Has anyone found it to be untruthful? I mean we are seeing 2.6 Gbs on a 1Gbs connection. Not really possible. John

I am looking at deploying LibreNMS to do basic graphing of network statistics like bandwidth usage and errors. I would also potentially look at CPU usage and perhaps some other things like lamp hours in projectors and printer toner etc. I have deployed LibreNMS before but had performance issues. Yes ...

The Phybridge devices we have are beyond end of life so you don't want to look at what we have. They have current switches though. John

Yeah I left higher ed network management back in 2014. Happy to be back. First thing I did was join NetMan and Wireless because there used to be so many great discussions. Where is everyone? Slack? Reddit? I try not to get crusty. I can adapt as long as folks aren't on twitter or snapchat I can keep ...

Thanks Mike Fitzgerald, I posted before seeing your post. Brings to mind something that happened here. Traditionally phones were in facilities and data with IT. Both side were firmly committed to, "Never shall the two mix". When VOIP came along the phone guys had a problem. Their cat3 phone network ...

Yeah that would be scary. I mean it would have to be the switch the elevator phone and equipment is plugged into and also everything upstream. Assuming data centers holding the core are on generator but network gear in a building is not you would need the edge switch and the distribution switch on 4 ...

Why would we need Cloudpath to help with the certificate? I mean if we buy a public certificate for radius the clients should be happy. Right? John

Apologies if you have received this post already. We are considering going with Fortinet Wireless as our next wireless system. We are a Fortinet customer already and the integration narrative is compelling, especially for a college our size. Is anyone using it who would be willing to discuss offline? ...

We are looking at moving to FortiAPs from Fortinet to leverage our current Fortinet infrastructure. Does anyone have recent experience with Fortinet wireless who would be willing to discuss offline? John
