SO many great comments here that I will just +1 them with enthusiasm. Two particular bones of contention: If you cold call my personal cell, your organization is off my list. One group does this continuously despite my polite, firm then adamant responses. If you are a vendor, and particularly a cybersecurity ...

The goal of this is to raise awareness and reduce risk so at my last entity, we were very transparent and tried to make it fun.. fun sticks better than the negatives ...

Thanks Andrea, and everyone who has weighed in on and off list. Interesting that we receive reinforcement that higher edu is such a target, but seems most of the states are carving out exceptions for higher edu Ed Hudson, Chief Information Security Officer

We use Beyond Trust. If an employee attempts to install something not on the approved/allow list it triggers a pop up that asks for the business justification and opens a ticket in our Service Now system. We are generally able to respond within a business day for mainstream software. EH Ed Hudson ...

H Chris We have embarked on similar path and for similar reasons though we use a different tool for managing and administration. I think we always have to have an exception process that measures risk likelihood, risk impact and risk velocity and is ultimately signed off by the business owner that ...

I have been hesitant to contribute to this discussion for what feels like obvious slippery slope reasons. Upon reflection, that's exactly what the "privilege" of my race and gender allows me to do and I strive to be more cognizant of that. I have loved this quote: "Let not anyone pacify his ...

Hi Mark, Our campuses each conduct a risk assessment and report results to their campus presidents on an annual basis per policy. Actual penetration testing is a bit more ad hoc. Myself, I tend to have one done every other year coupled with an external security assessment. The scope of that varies ...

Reading comments I am drawn back to the characters Hem and Haw and Sniff and Scurry (Who Moved My Cheese). Change is challenging, especially when we have had so much of it. I applaud Brian and EDUCAUSE for moving things forward. Yes, we had the stockpile of cheese we were all used to but it was indeed ...
