Lee, Funny you asked about these right now. This afternoon I'm heading over to a group on our Campus that has ~x40 of these that they say aren't working for them. They say they're having problems using them on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a building, but when I look at their past connections, I only see ...

Bruce, Give me a couple of minutes to look up my notes on my recent encounter with one of the Deans that had a personal ChromeBook with a .1X authentication issue. Thanks, Brad

Jon, You're the first person I've heard mention a restriction on any type of enclosures for 6E. Unfortunately, the other point about not being able to use external antennas indoors is true, at least for now. Not sure what country you're in, but the FCC (regulatory agency for the US) currently restricts ...

Larry, Sorry, but no. I've never heard of WiFi monitoring of fire extinguishers. It sounds like an interesting use of WiFi for an IoT device. I would have expected them to use LORA or Zigbee because of the lower power consumption for a low-bandwidth telemetry transaction. I would assume you would need ...

Chuck, How do I confirm that it's sending the certificate? Packet capture? If so, is the cert sent unencrypted? Thanks, Brad

Chuck, Thanks. It's definitely installed on the RADIUS servers. Not sure if it's sending it. We even manually installed all x4 certificates (server, intermediate #1, intermediate #2, and the root and set the trust each cert on the MacBook, but even that didn't make a difference. The authentication still ...

John, Thanks for the idea. We tried x2 different MacBooks that were both running the same MacOS (Monterey 16.2) and sitting right next to each other. Both were connected to the same AP. One got the validation / trust pop-up and could connect. The other didn't (it just failed the authentication without ...

Travis, Thanks for the idea. One of our field support PC technicians even tried using the enterprise administrative account to do this, but didn't have any luck getting it to connect. Thanks, Brad

Help Please! I renewed the InCommon (Comodo) SSL certificates on my NPS servers this morning. Since, ~50 MacBooks did not get the certificate validation popup to trust and accept the certificate. Those that did not get the popup are failing authentication and cannot get on any of my 802.1X networks. ...

Lionel, Aruba still has the paintable covers available for the new AP models. We just bought a bunch for a WiFi refresh in our museum exhibit spaces. Thanks, Brad

Chuck, Wow! If LED chip (status) lights trigger sound responses and almost every device having these lights nowadays, being anywhere in public must be horrific! Thanks, Brad

James, I thought maybe they were trying to keep your AP clean. Isn't that a Swiffer duster? Thanks, Brad

Tim, We explain to the users that APs provide an area service and are not dedicated to just a particular room. You could explain that, even though there is one AP per room, adjacent room APs provide redundancy when an AP fails. This keeps the wireless system functioning for ALL when a piece of equipment ...

If I add a 10' extension of low-loss LMR-195 (loss of ~3 dB) between an Aruba AP-ANT-48 panel antenna (8.5 dBi gain at 5 GHz) and an AP-534 at 5 GHz set for 802.11ax HE20 and be able to achieve MCS11? What performance degradation am I likely to realistically see with the ~3 dB (half signal strength) ...

Mat, If you seriously believe that there might be an external source that's causing interference and you're in the US, you could always contact the FCC and explain the situation. They might be willing to roll one of their "spy vans" to confirm that the external source is within legal limits (power, ...
