We looked at JAMF and got pricing. It was affordable but we didn't find it as easy to manage. We are a very small shop so JAMF seemed like it would take to many resources.

We do bind to AD. Our imaging appliance pulls the current name of the machine and asks for verification when reimaging. So that isn't an issue for us. The biggest thing is when offices are moved around. Particularly when we aren't notified.

We use building abbreviation, room, service tag and then an identifier of use. For example R201-fxyvdp2-f. This would be Reinbolt Hall room 201 and the service tag of the machine.
