Hey ya'll! Higher Logic community groups/discussion boards are in use in four different organizations where I work/learn. In one of them, HL rolled out a NEW AND IMPROVED design on 15 April. The organization that rolled it out doesn't know how to do usability testing or accessibility testing, so they ...

The build and structure of ATN happened via what was once AMAC - origins at UGA (now CIDI at Ga Tech). It was a lot of work to design, develop, and maintain the system - along with one dedicated staff person. Not to mention the hundreds of schools that contributed resources and support the sharing that ...

That's a great path forward. I saw you post about ATN, that used to be hosted by CIDI at Ga Tech. CIDI does have a really great video and audio description team if you ever have a need for post production. Good luck! ------------------------------ Sam Evans Certification Manager International Association ...

The effective communications and standards of quality captioning require some elements that some AI and ASR (automated speech recognition) cannot produce. Accuracy in captions REQUIRES speaker names (many AI ASR tools are already out of the game out of the gate with this), grammar, punctuation, sounds, ...

Second to Doug's warning about any product that tells screen reader users to turn off/not use their assistive technology of choice. That's contrary to the core tenants of accessibility. In addition to putting yet another layer between a person and the technology it forces people that rely on AT ...

The vendor providers that you've listed will not be accessible by design, and I've not seen any of them make an effort/express an interest in remediating their systems. Your magazine as an accessible PDF presented in read format on your website may be a solution. ------------------------------ Sam ...

Rob, I agree with Rebecca. You should check with your CART captioning teams to ensure they are familiar with listening to electrolarynx to transcribe. AI and machine created captioning tools are not designed to hear, listen, and understand may forms of AAC (alternative and augmented communications). ...

Looking further down the line for the procurement process... Are those 'less expensive' VPAT production teams going to reflect and support their claims of usability in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) terms for performance and exit when/if they do not deliver on their in-house VPAT? ------------ ...

It is a plugin but not an overlay in terms of the ones that offer profiles. I'd be wary of anything AI driven that claims to make files automatically accessible. AI just isn't there for images, context, and tables. ------------------------------ Sam Evans Certification Manager International Association ...

Lori, Cisco owns the WebEx brand. The head of tech at Zoom used to be the head of tech CX at WebEx Meetings. Left supposedly due to not being able to roll out the CX changes requested. I like Otter.ai for notetaking and using the review to correct it's AI shortcomings as a way to review notes. I also use it to create caption files from Zoom and PPTX presentations that will become video. New today is a hardware find, a usb-based small microphone for voice recognition. https://a ...
