FWIW, TAC just had us upgrade from 17.9.4a to 17.12.2. Our 9800-80 controllers were rebooting consistently every 6-7 days (fun!) from a memory leak bug that 17.9.x apparently hadn't resolved. We also NAT from our PA-5400 firewalls. Chuck, I'm only aware of the max session & concurrent sessions per second limits for the 5400's & Palos in general. What are you using to manage your wireless maps and present that data to your customers? Your wifi scanning tool needs to interoperate well with whatever tool that is .
